Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa, the national chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), explained why in his opinion Olusegun Obasanjo should not have torn his Peoples Democratic Party membership card.
Weeks after the scandalous quit of Nigeria’s former president from the ruling party, Akinfenwa openly expressed his disappointment.
The official characterized the move as childish as he spoke at the event held for young journalists in Osun state, The Punch reports.
“As an elderly statesman, he ought not to have done that publicly.”
Akinfenwa also expressed confidence that Attahiru Jega, the Independent National Electoral Commission chairman, would ensure the conduct of free and fair elections.
Additionally, he explained that the AD had endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for March 28 presidential election “because he has performed better than all Nigeria’s past presidents put together”.
Meanwhile the voting has already started all across the country. Today voters decide who will become the next President of Nigeria.
