The township of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South-West local government area of Ondo State witnessed calmness for the first time in 2 days.

Macabelee's Blog have earlier reported the whole dilemma and unrest right from the start at previous posts.

At about 09:45am this morning, it was a tense situation in the major residential areas of the town as the protest escalated into a riot between the aggrieved students of Adekunle Ajasin University and the indigenes of Akungba community.

Both parties displayed high level of violence as bottles, knifes, guns, planks, charms and stones were all used. This act lasted for hours which brought fear to the heart of everybody.

The streets of Akungba-Akoko as at the time of writing this post is littered with broken bottles, dirts, planks, woods, burnt tires and leaf branches.

The involvement of the police this time around calmed the situation and restored order back to the community as both students and indigenes took to their feet in the struggle to avoid falling into the police nest.

Meanwhile, several arrest have been made and a large number of Nigeria students and indigenes of Akungba town are presently at the custody of the police.

In another report, the mopol also joined the party but the methods used by the military men was harsh as it has always been. Mopols were reported to have ordered the students to vacate the residential homes. This is believed to have happened due to the rumors heard by the students stating that the indigenes are planning a night attack on the students.

There was also another news that the mopol has declared curfew in the town stipulating movement hours for everyone in the community. Movements will begin at 6am - 6pm and will cease from 6pm - 6am the next day.

A large number of students were spotted with their bags heading for the motor parks in an attempt to follow the instructions earlier issued out by the school authority and management of the school.

Presently, the town is free from all forms of riot and there is calmness in air now.

We advice all students and parents to vacate Akungba community and find all means to vacate their students respectively.

NOTE: The death of one Nigerian student is believed to be the cause of the riot.
